Duo Ramos-Ohta (2012–)
Yuka Ohta (percussion) and Diego Ramos Rodríguez (violin, composition) met for the first time in 2012 at the International Ensemble Modern Academy in Frankfurt am Main (Germany). In November 2013 they play the improvisation part at the premiere of the concert-radio play Die Befristeten (M. Obst) at the cresc...Biennale in Frankfurt am Main, broadcast by the Hessischer Rundfunk in June 2014. Improvisation and scenic awareness would become from then an important source of inspiration for their collaboration, developed in further concerts with a great variety of formats.
In May 2014 the duo awarded the special prize at the Lenzewski Competition for contemporary chamber music. From then they have worked in music theatre projects with artists such as Nuno Ramos (Über die menschliche Natur, 2019) and Glogowski/Hoesch (Matter of Facts, 2020). The development of new performative and scenic possibilities of percussion through instrument design and a creative tension between improvisation and composition is one of the main focuses of their work together. https://ramosohta.wordpress.com/ YouTube Channel |
