The four musicians of the Améi Quartett - Corinna Canzian, Diego Ramos Rodríguez, Aglaya González and Esther Saladin - came together in October 2012 at the International Ensemble Modern Academy. Since then the quartet has been giving concerts in Germany and other European countries: Beethovenhaus Bonn, Ultima Oslo, Accademia di Musica di Pinerolo, Musik der Jahrhunderte Stuttgart, Donaueschinger Musiktage, Wortklangraum Bonn, Hindemith-Institut Frankfurt. One of the highlights of its career was the performance of the five-hour-long 2nd String Quartet by Morton Feldman at the Alte Oper Frankfurt in September 2014. The repertoire of the Améi Quartett focuses on modern classics and contemporary music, having collaborated with Nicolaus A. Huber, Michael Denhoff, Helmut Lachenmann and Joanna Bailie. The members of the quartett give concerts at numerous european festivals as soloists or in different orchestras, ensembles and chamber music formations. In November 2012, the Améi Quartett received the special prize at the Chamber Music Competition of the Polytechnische Gesellschaft Frankfurt, and in 2013 it was awarded a honourable mention at the Boris Pergamenschikow Chamber Music Competition. Since then the quartet has expanded its horizons in the field of music education as well, collaborating with the Italian coaching company "Your Business Partner".
Yuka Ohta (percussion) and Diego Ramos Rodríguez (violin, composition) met for the first time in 2012 at the International Ensemble Modern Academy in Frankfurt am Main (Germany). In November 2013 they play the improvisation part at the premiere of the concert-radio play Die Befristeten (M. Obst) at the cresc...Biennale in Frankfurt am Main, broadcast by the Hessischer Rundfunk in June 2014. Improvisation and scenic awareness would become from then an important source of inspiration for their collaboration, developed in further concerts with a great variety of formats. In May 2014 the duo awarded the special prize at the Lenzewski Competition for contemporary chamber music. From then they have worked in music theatre projects with artists such as Nuno Ramos (Über die menschliche Natur, 2019) and Glogowski/Hoesch (Matter of Facts, 2020). The development of new performative and scenic possibilities of percussion through instrument design and a creative tension between improvisation and composition is one of the main focuses of their work together.
